There is a lot of research being done on the benefits of massage therapy for children. While no research can definitively prove one technique will work all the time, there are general benefits that can be seen with a consistent massage routine. The Massage for Infants, Toddlers, and Teens (MITTS) program developed by Village Academy for Families, LLC relies on research when designing massage routines for minors. The research is promising on the benefits of massage for the common childhood issues outlined in this lesson.
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to perform massage routines for the following common childhood issues.
- Teething & Toothaches
- Smartphone Thumb & Text Neck
- Headaches
- Stomach Issues
- Adaptations for the Neurodiverse
At the end of this lesson, there will be a short quiz to reinforce some of the important concepts of the MITTS program. You will need to score at least 70% on the quiz and final exam to receive your certificate of completion and your continuing education credits (3 CEs). The quiz and final exam are not mandatory if you do not want to receive a certificate and/or CEs.
