The “terrible twos”, “treacherous threes”, sleepless nights, and nap time struggles are all common concerns during the toddler years. These are also the years when children’s brains will develop the most and when they start to develop a sense of self and how they fit into society. The Massage for Infants, Toddlers, and Teens (MITTS) course developed by Village Academy for Families, LLC, focuses on the social-emotional development of toddlers.
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to describe the benefits of massage for toddlers, use a “massage circle” to engage toddlers while reading books and/or singing songs, and perform a massage routine to help toddlers have a more restful sleep. You will also know where and how to introduce massage for toddlers in your community and how to include it in your professional and/or everyday practice.
At the end of this lesson, there will be a short quiz to reinforce some of the important concepts of the MITTS program. You will need to score at least 70% on the quiz and final exam to receive your certificate of completion and your continuing education credits (CEs). The quiz and final exam are not mandatory if you do not want to receive a certificate and/or CEs.
