It is often said that parents are a child’s first teacher and that good (and bad) habits start at home. In the Massage for Infants, Toddlers, and Teens (MITTS) program developed by Village Academy for Families, LLC, parents and primary caregivers are given specific tools to help them become better teachers and develop good habits that help build healthy relationships through positive touch. One such tool is Infant Massage Instruction.

During this lesson, you will discover the many benefits of infant massage and the importance of bonding. You will see what a typical infant massage class looks like and practice a simple, yet effective, routine for bonding that you can use with your own infant or an infant that is in your primary care (babysitter, childcare provider, etc.) By the end of this lesson, you will know how to teach an Infant Massage Class to parents and caregivers, and how to include Massage for Infants in your professional and/or everyday practice.

At the end of this lesson, there will be a short quiz to reinforce some of the important concepts of the MITTS program. You will need to score at least 70% on the quiz and final exam to receive your certificate of completion and your continuing education credits (CEs). The quiz and final exam are not mandatory if you do not want to receive a certificate and/or CEs.
